Additions

These projects are featured on this page:

Photos 1-3: An addition/remodel for the Austin residence of local architect Smith Holt features Rastra (an insulated concrete form) construction, a photovoltaic electrical system, stained concrete flooring, on-demand hot water, and Polygal roofing on the carport.

Photos 4-5: This residence near Shoal Creek and 38th street in Austin consisted of an addition of approx. 600 sq. ft. and a comprehensive remodel of the entire existing structure. The kitchen was gutted and replaced, the existing bedrooms were expanded, and a new master bedroom and bath were added to the rear of the house, as well as a new deck.

Photos 6-9: This home in the Travis Heights neighborhood of South Austin felt cramped for the homeowners to live comfortably, so they commissioned Shelter Design and Construction to design a plan for an expansion of the home out into the large backyard. The project consisted of an 800 sq. ft, two-story addition which consisted of a large kitchen remodel, new dining room, and a new study/guest bathroom downstairs.

Photos 10-13: These photos show the result of a screen porch conversion in the Northwest Hills neighborhood of Austin.  Existing exterior doors were removed and replaced with a cased opening between the living room and the new lounge/television area. Concrete floor was tiled, a gas firpelace added, and kitchen windows were converted into a bar between the kitchen and new dining area.  Additional cabinets were installed.
